The short version: Clear Dart makes transparent medicating darts in Eldon, Missouri, in two needle styles — Standard (tip delivery, the everyday pick) and Side Port with Gel Collar (side delivery that resists tissue plugging and bounce-outs, for doses you can't afford to lose). Both come in 3–10cc volumes and 6/12/24-count boxes, and fit about 95% of ½" barrel projectors, including the model 178. The DR1 dart gun completes the system.
Standard vs. Side Port
Same transparent body, two needle designs — pick by what a lost dose costs you.
Standard Needles
Traditional tip-delivery needles — the proven choice for routine vaccinations, antibiotics, sedatives, and parasite control.
- 3cc, 5cc, 7.5cc & 10cc volumes
- Needle lengths from ½" to 2"
- Boxes of 6, 12, or 24
- Transparent body — verify the dose before and after
Side Port Needles
Patent-pending ports along the side of the needle keep medication flowing even if tissue blocks the tip — and the Gel Collar holds the dart seated so it finishes the job instead of bouncing out.
- Side delivery resists tissue plugging mid-injection
- Gel Collar reduces bounce-outs; dart releases naturally in ~10 min
- Missed shot? Wipe off a side-port dart and recover the drug
- Same volumes; lengths from ¾" to 2"
| Standard | Side Port | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Routine herd work — vaccines, antibiotics, dewormers | Expensive medications; animals you won't get a second shot at |
| Delivery | Through the needle tip | Through side ports — keeps flowing if the tip meets tissue |
| Retention | Standard — dart drops after delivery | Gel Collar holds the dart seated for full transfer |
| Needle lengths | ½" – 2" | ¾" – 2" |
| Volumes & boxes | 3cc / 5cc / 7.5cc / 10cc · boxes of 6, 12 & 24 · price follows volume × box count (needle length never changes the price) | |

Full head-to-head with the brand you're probably using now: Clear Dart vs. Pneu Dart: The Real Difference in Delivery and Reliability
Straight answers
Will Clear Darts fit my projector?
Almost certainly. Clear Darts fit about 95% of standard remote delivery systems with a 1/2-inch barrel — including the popular model 178. You don't need a new gun to switch darts.
What is the difference between Standard and Side Port needles?
Standard needles deliver through an opening at the tip — the proven, everyday choice for routine vaccinations, antibiotics, and parasite control. Side Port needles push medication out through precision ports along the side of the needle, so tissue can't plug the opening mid-injection, and the Gel Collar keeps the dart seated after impact to reduce bounce-outs. Choose Side Port when the medication is expensive or the animal is hard to get a second chance at.
Do Clear Darts shoot differently than what I use now?
A little. They may need 3–4 more pumps than Pneu-Dart darts because of barrel pressure and friction. Read the insert before your first use and test-range your setup — after that, it's business as usual.
How long does the dart stay on the animal?
In most cases the dose delivers and the dart falls out on its own in about 10 minutes. The transparent body lets you confirm the chamber is empty before it drops.
Are Clear Darts reusable?
No — they're single-use only, to prevent cross-contamination between animals.
